Understanding Tubes
Core II 1200+
Entry point into the Core line: a guaranteed FOM floor of 1,200+ and an SNR of 20+, on the same Na2KSB(Cs) multi-alkali photocathode and P43/P45 white-phosphor platform as the rest of Core II.
Autogated with external gain adjustment as standard.
Ideal for: cost-sensitive builds, training, backup systems, and general low-light observation.
Core II 1400+
FOM floor of 1,400+, SNR of 22+, and photocathode sensitivity of ≥650 µA/Lm — a step up in resolution and clarity for darker scenes while staying on the Gen 2+ platform.
Ideal for: users who want stronger performance than entry-level at solid value, across mixed low-light conditions.
Core II 1600+
FOM floor of 1,600+, SNR of 25+, sensitivity ≥800 µA/Lm. Noticeably better detail resolution and lower noise as ambient light drops.
Ideal for: professional use and demanding environments that call for more fidelity, while keeping cost below Core III.
Core II 1800+
FOM floor of 1,800+, SNR of 28+, sensitivity ≥900 µA/Lm — the upper half of the Gen 2+ range.
Ideal for: users who want the ceiling of Gen 2+ performance before stepping up to Core III’s Gen 3 GaAs sensitivity.
Core II 2000+
FOM floor of 2,000+, SNR of 28+, sensitivity ≥1,000 µA/Lm — the top of the Core II line, matching Core III’s entry FOM floor on the multi-alkali platform.
Ideal for: buyers who want maximum Gen 2+ sensitivity ahead of moving to GaAs.
Core III 2000+
Core III steps into Gen 3 GaAs cathode territory: FOM floor of 2,000+, SNR of 32+, sensitivity ≥1,900 µA/Lm.
Ideal for: professional and critical-use deployments that need the extra sensitivity margin GaAs provides over Gen 2+.
Core III 2200+
Top of the Core line: Gen 3 GaAs cathode, FOM floor of 2,200+, SNR of 32+, sensitivity ≥2,000 µA/Lm.
Ideal for: critical operations, low-light extremes (moonless nights, deep canopy, covert missions), and users who want the strongest tube in the Core family.
